Age of Armor Summer Film Series: A Knight’s Tale

Heath Ledger stars as a peasant squire who creates a new identity as a knight, along the way encountering the Black Prince, the subject of one of Telfair’s iconic paintings.

Sharon Norwood Artist Talk

This summer, Savannah-based artist Sharon Norwood will create an installation in the Drawing Room at the Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters that will investigate the story of unpaid labor, violence, and resistance in a way that counters the idealized, romanticized narratives often associated with Southern pre-Civil War homes.

The Age of Armor Free Family Day

Jepson Center

Get ready for a day of family fun, as Telfair offers an all-ages event celebrating The Age of Armor. Visitors can see armor and mock battle demonstrations throughout the afternoon presented by the Shire of Forth Castle (Savannah area chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism) and members of Schola St. George (a group focused on the knightly culture and chivalric arts of the later Middle Ages) from Atlanta and the Southeast.

FOT Presents: Masculine Mentalities with Dr. Sandy Slater

To celebrate the completion of the Boys’ Bed Chamber, the FOT is hosting a free public talk with Dr. Sandy Slater, associate professor of history and director of the Carolina Lowcountry and the Atlantic World Program, College of Charleston.
