Position: Sales and Tourism Relations Manager

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to generate new business for the museum while cultivating and expanding the museum’s existing client base and enhancing underdeveloped opportunities within the Savannah region and beyond. The Sales Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Adult Group Sales, 3-Site Event Rentals, Ad Sales and Birthday Party programs. These responsibilities include but not limited to: creating and implementing sales plans for corporate groups, tourism and travel, hospitality/local hotels, birthday parties, adult groups, FIT, and girl scouts; establishing and cultivating relationships and partnerships within the hospitality, tourism and corporate communities; managing budgets, vendor relationships, and group sales and bookings operations; and increasing sales and profits.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Engage in proactive calls and out-of-office direct sale activities for adult group visits, bulk ticket sales, tourism and hospitality sales, birthday parties, ad sales, facility rentals to appropriate organizations and target audiences.
  • Attend and present at conferences, association meetings, tourism events, as required.
  • Work with CFO and Marketing Director to establish sales goals, pricing and package structures, profit margins, and targeted marketing areas.
  • Build external sales and promotional partners such as hotel concierges, Visit Savannah, tour operators, receptives, bus companies, convention and meeting planners.
  • Maintain budgets and track expenses
  • Look for new and innovative ways to increase profit and reduce expenses. Identify up-selling opportunities. Create new streams for earned revenue
  • Work closely with front desk staff to implement strategies to achieve operational and sales goals and to ensure adequate resources are available to deliver an exceptional experience-this includes staffing, training, and maintain sales data on Altru.
  • Prepare ticket sales programs for individual sales. Respond to general requests relating to sales and fulfill requests for sales materials.
  • Maintain an inventory of sales products and develop incentive items to be used with clients and potential clients.
  • Investigate and resolve any visitor concerns and complaints. Ensure delivery of the highest level of customer service and satisfaction at every customer interaction and touch point.
  • Responsible to meet established annual revenue and visitation goals set with the Director of Marketing/Public Relations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of the outside sales process-cold calling, prospect development, closing, account servicing.
  • Comfortable with public speaking/group presentations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals in a professional manner.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal effectively with deadlines and time pressures.
  • Computer skills to include proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver’s license and exemplary driving record.
  • Team player – ready and willing to help wherever needed or assigned

 

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline. Marketing, communications, arts administration, or museum studies preferred.
  • 3+ years of group sales experience preferably in hospitality organization.
