Art Start: Stroller & Toddler Tour

Once a month, our youngest patrons are invited to the Jepson Center for story time, a special tour, and an art activity. Strollers, crying babies, toddlers, and older siblings are all welcome here.

Video Art Screenings: Ragnar Kjartansson and The National, A Lot of Sorrow

Jepson Center

Telfair Museums will present four screenings of A Lot of Sorrow (2013–14), a collaboration between Icelandic conceptual artist Ragnar Kjartansson and the American band The National. Capturing a performance at MoMA PS1 in 2013, this meditative film runs for 6 hours, 9 minutes, and 35 seconds.

2023 Boxed In/Break Out Talk

Join us for an artist talk by Wioleta Kaminska. In conversation with curator of modern and contemporary art Erin Dunn, Kaminska will share insights about her artistic practice and her inspiration for her multidisciplinary project Retreating.

Juneteenth Free Family Day

Jepson Center

Telfair presents its observation of Juneteenth with two major programs celebrating freedom and African American history and heritage. The museum’s Juneteenth Kickoff Free Family Day will feature performances and activities including a libation ceremony followed by story-telling, artist demonstrations, and a musical performance.

Juneteenth Lecture by Queen Quet

Jepson Center

Telfair Museums is pleased to present an evening lecture in celebration of Juneteenth by Queen Quet, who will discuss land ownership among Gullah/Geechee people in the coastal South. Queen Quet Marquetta L. Goodwine is a published author, computer scientist, lecturer, mathematician, historian, columnist, preservationist, environmental justice advocate, environmentalist, film consultant, and “The Art-ivist.” She is the founder of the premiere advocacy organization for the continuation of Gullah/Geechee culture, the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition.

Age of Armor Members Reception & Lecture

Who made the armor, who wore it, how well did it work—and how did it come to be in Savannah half a millennium later? Join Jeffrey L. Forgeng, curator of The Age of Armor, as he takes you on a personal journey through highlights of the exhibition and the centuries of human stories forged into the steel of these objects.
