Friends of African American Arts, or FAAA, is a member group of people across genders, ethnicities, and ages brought together by their appreciation of the artistic and cultural contributions of African Americans. Art can be instrumental in shaping the tone and nature of intercultural relations. FAAA has a diverse membership, which enjoys social and cultural activities that allow participants to expand their personal networks while experiencing the remarkable cultural landscape the Southeast has to offer. By participating in FAAA events, you are adding value to your Telfair Museums experience.

“Where’s Your 20?” FAAA Small Works Exhibition
Celebrating 20 Years of FAAA
Where’s Your 20? In honor of FAAA 20th Anniversary, this exhibition asks creators to navigate through time to consider what has influenced them, where they are right now, or even where they may find themselves twenty years from now. Through intimate small-scale works, this exhibition presents a larger journey of life events, visions, dreams, and perspectives, showing that each artist holds their own place within the boundaries of past, present, and future.
Artists are encouraged to reflect on one of three perspectives:
The Past – Looking back on twenty years of lived experience, personal growth, family history, and social changes.
The Present – Examining where you are and stand now, shaped by the realities of today.
The Future – imagining yourself and or the world twenty years from now through speculations, hope, transformation, and uncertainty of the unknown.

Submission Guidelines:
Eligibility: Artist members of FAAA are invited to submit art for the annual Small Works exhibition in the Jepson Center’s Morrison Community Gallery from September 11 – November 23. Artists submitting must be current members of Telfair Museums and Telfair’s Friends of African American Art.
Work accepted: Original small works in any media including painting, photography, printmaking, drawing, digitally created prints, small sculpture, video. Each artist is required to submit at least two works for consideration. Applications with less than two submissions will not be accepted. Only one work per artist will be exhibited.
Size limitation: Submitted works must be no larger than 36 inches tall and/or 36 inches wide. Due to space constraints, the museum will only be able to accommodate a small number of three-dimensional works, which may be no larger than 18 inches in any direction.
Content: The Community Gallery is adjacent to Telfair’s Children’s Art Museum. Telfair Museums reserves the right not to exhibit works deemed inappropriate for audiences of all ages, infringe on other copyrighted images, or works that exceed the size limitations of the exhibition.
Preparation: Two-dimensional works must be professionally matted and framed, or otherwise finished and ready to hang with hardware attached.
Sales: Works of art in the exhibition are not for sale. The museum can provide contact information for artists to individuals wanting to purchase work.
Submission deadline: Submit entry form online no later than August 6, 5pm and include two image files.
Please note: This is not a juried exhibition – one work submitted by each artist will be included, space permitting. Please submit early. Space is limited works are included on a first-come, first-served basis.
