PULSE: Metropolis-Synthesis

January 21 | 2:00 pm

After taking on classics like Beowulf and the Odyssey, Atlanta-based artists Alessandro Imperato and David Spencer are back to perform a re-interpretation of a modern classic—Fritz Lang’s 1927 silent film masterpiece Metropolis. Using a public domain version of the film, Imperato will employ an analog video synthesizer and digital tools he has developed to remix the film with live visual effects. The result will not be black and white, but a newly reimagined Metropolis with a psychedelic mix of retro-coloration, 1980s analog video and futuristic qualities. David Spencer will accompany with an analog modular synth score along with Jason Butcher, who will perform on a Buchla synthesizer for this “live cinema” event. (60 minutes)

This event is free to students with valid student IDs and Chatham County residents with proof of residency. Without a valid student or Chatham County ID, regular museum admission is required for entrance.
