This workshop explores the methods of Michelangelo—a founding ancestor of the Western drawing tradition. Copying a master allows you to step inside a great artist’s problem-solving process. This workshop provides students with the highest level of craft in structure, line, and shading. By executing careful master copies, this practice sharpens judgment, expands technical vocabulary, and strengthens your own artistic decision-making.
Astoria Jellett has trained at both the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts and Florence Academy of Art, and combines both approaches to give you a taste of atelier training.
