Free and open to the public.

Telfair presents the 2018 Jacob and Gwendolyn Knight Lawrence Lecture by Masud Ashley Olufani, a noted Atlanta-based mixed media artist and actor whose studio practice is rooted in sculpture and often incorporates elements of performance. He is a 2017 Southern Arts Prize State Fellow for Georgia; a Southwest Airlines Art and Social Engagement grant recipient; and a recipient of 2015-16 MOCA GA Working Artist Project Grant.

He is the lead designer of Blocked at Five Points, a site-specific installation created to memorialize the enslaved Africans bought and sold at the Crawford Frazier Auction House, which once stood on the grounds of Atlanta’s Five Points MARTA station. Olufani is also an accomplished actor, having appeared in a recurring role on the BET series The Quad, as well as appearances on ABC’s Nashville and other programs.

Sponsored by the Jacob and Gwendolyn Lawrence Foundation and presented by Telfair’s Friends of African American Arts.
