June 15, 10am–5pm | Performances and family art making activities from 1pm–4pm

Telfair’s observance of Juneteenth reaches its 17th year with a day of activities, storytelling and performance celebrating freedom and African American culture. The museum welcomes back Dr. Jamal Toure as the African Spirit to open the event with a libation ceremony, followed by children’s activities, storytelling, presentations by Atlanta visual and spoken word artist rEN Dillard (original co-founder of Savannah’s Spitfire Poetry Group), and a special musical performance at 3pm by Bokei Carribean Vibes Steel Drum Band.

*Free admission to the Jepson Center for local residents of Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, Liberty, Jasper, and Beaufort Counties.
