Start your day with art at our new and combined programs! Special thanks to committed Telfair Museums docents Rebecca Fleming, Alexandra Talsness, and Beverly Braine for helping organize and facilitate the Art Start program. Once a month, our youngest patrons are invited to the Jepson Center for story time, a special tour, and an art activity. Strollers, crying babies, toddlers, and older siblings are all welcome here. Come play and learn with us!

Summon the Sea! Contemporary Artists and Moby Dick

Jepson Center
Regarded as one of the great American novels, Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick (1851) presents an allegorical story that has been reinterpreted over the past 168 years and still holds a prophetic power over our collective imagination. This exhibition examines the work of six contemporary artists—including Frank Stella—who act as epic storytellers as they respond to, challenge, and celebrate the allegories presented in Melville’s literary classic.
