Scope of Position:
The position is responsible for ensuring that all of the Telfair Museum buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard of workmanship and presentation to the public at all times. This detailed-oriented position focuses on maintaining the grounds and exterior areas of the Museum’s 3 sites in perfect condition. The applicant must be organized, have an eye for detail, be able to work on multiple projects at once, and keep professional decorum in a public setting. Responsibilities also include assisting with other building maintenance projects and special events as requested.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Maintains Exterior buildings and grounds to a high standard. Includes, but not limited to:
- Raking, sweeping, weeding,blowing of all sidewalks daily
- Perform seasonal indoor and outdoor maintenance duties
- Daily litter pick-up around 3-sites
- Plantings and volunteer coordination
- Trimming all trees and shrubbery as directed
- Washing exterior lower levels of buildings as directed
- Seasonal mulching
- Adding/refreshing hardscaping as required
- Fountain and planter care
- Trouble shooting sprinkler issues
- Maintains good relationship with contractors, vendors and service personnel
- Provides routine assessment of the exterior at the three sites, reporting attention of supervisor
- Maintains workshop and other facilities-related spaces in a safe, clean, and orderly state
- Serve as one of several On-Call personnel for after-hours emergencies
- Assist Housekeeping Department with setting up and breaking down events and functions
- Assist with large event logistics and set-up and breakdown
- Assists other staff members in any reasonable way to ensure a safe and efficient operation of the Museum
- Helps to ensure that all treatments to the property, by any party, are conducted in a way consistent with the protection and preservation of the Museum properties.
