Happenings

Collecting Impressionism: Telfair's Modern Vision

Jepson Center
Collecting Impressionism: Telfair’s Modern Vision traces the early 20th-century footsteps of noted Telfair art advisor Gari Melchers (1860–1932) as he traveled the country and the globe identifying remarkable examples of the avant- garde art movement and giving them a permanent home in Savannah.

Fashion Icons: Brilliant Styles

March 12 at 6pm Jepson Center
Fashion historians Harold Koda and Caroline Rennolds Milbank will present a visual exploration of brilliant style - from the inevitable and iconic "Best Dressed" (Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Babe Paley, Marella Agnelli ) to more unexpected and idiosyncratic examples of women in the arts.

Before Midnight: Bonaventure and the Bird Girl

Telfair Academy
Telfair Museums presents Sylvia Shaw Judson’s iconic sculpture Bird Girl within the context of the history and art of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Machines of Futility: Unproductive Technologies

Jepson Center
This exhibition of interactive and kinetic art highlights artists making machines that use humor and absurdity to question the usefulness of technology. The exhibition includes artist Neil Mendoza’s Robotic Voice Activated Word Kicking Machine, which humorously visualizes how machines hear or don’t hear what we say, substituting an absurd apparatus for the unseen technology in our pockets and homes.

The Prints of Erik Desmazières

Jepson Center
The Prints of Erik Desmazières will feature a selection of prints by the artist from Telfair Museums’ permanent collection.
