Friends’ assistance allows the museum to continue its preservation efforts, interpretation development, and visitor programming. The group enjoys special access to the Owens-Thomas House through garden parties, lectures, and tours. In addition, opportunities to meet and socialize with others interested in architecture, decorative arts, gardening, and history are scheduled throughout the year, as well as local and regional field trips to historic sites.
A Floor Cloth for the Owens-Thomas House
Floor cloth remnants found in the attic cistern will provide inspiration for the design of the Owens- Thomas House hall. Floor cloths were practical, decorative, and commonly found in entry ways of 19th century American houses. Providing floor protection, they withstand wear and tear of frequent visitors and are easily maintained.
