Renowned Sotheby’s auctioneer C. Hugh Hildesley is coming to Savannah on Feb. 25 to oversee sales at the private Telfair Ball – one of three museum fundraisers coming up.
Hildesley’s high-profile auctions have included the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis sale, the sale of the property of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, and the Barry Halper sale of baseball memorabilia. Hildesley and Sotheby’s have donated his time to the Telfair and are paying for his flight to Savannah.
“I am thrilled someone of Mr. Hildesley’s caliber is leading the auction at this year’s Telfair Ball,” said Helen Williams Johnson, fundraiser chairwoman. “He has handled so many of the biggest auction events in the world.”
