Selections from the Permanent Collection
Telfair Academy
This summer marks the beginning of several exciting updates to the Telfair Academy’s Sculpture Gallery. While this space is closed to the public for renovations, the highlights from the Telfair’s permanent collection that it typically houses will be on view in the Academy’s four upstairs galleries. Perennial favorites such as George Bellows’ Snow-Capped River and Childe Hassam’s Brooklyn Bridge in Winter will be hung alongside several beloved works that have only recently returned home to Savannah after having been out on loan to museums in cities ranging from Columbus, Georgia, to Bordeaux, France. These include Frederick Carl Frieseke’s The Garden Umbrella, Alfred Roll’s Felix Faure and His Grandson, Alfred Smith’s Bordeaux, View from the Bridge, Winter Day, and others. Museum visitors will also have the opportunity to view additional works from the permanent collection that are not typically on view.
