Luster of Silver:
Contemporary Metalpoint Drawings

During
the summer of 2006, the Telfair presents a variety of works—small
and large, figurative and abstract—by contemporary artists
who have embraced the venerable and meticulous medium of silverpoint—literally,
drawing with silver. Featuring both well-known artists working in
the medium as well as young, emerging artists who have discovered
the appeal of working in silver, the exhibition explores the ways
in which contemporary artists employ silverpoint to a variety of
aesthetic ends. One of the few shows devoted to silverpoint to have
been organized in the recent past, The Luster of Silver provides a fresh perspective on the possibilities of this fascinating
medium.
