Telfair Museum of Art Internship Application

The Museum’s internship program provides college students and recent graduates with practical work experience and in-depth training in the museum profession.

Interns work under the supervision of one of the Museum’s professional staff and contribute to projects, gain insight into the functions of individual departments, and learn about the Museum’s collections, exhibitions, and programs for visitors.

Based on academic training and interests, as well as the availability of projects, interns work in one of the Museum’s departments – curatorial, education, administration, finance, development, marketing, and public relations.

Unpaid internships for college students are available throughout the year on a full or part time basis. The number of positions varies according to departmental needs, and opportunities may range from several months to a full year.

Paid internships are dependent upon grant support availability.

Academic credit and requirements are coordinated with student’s professors or advisors.

The Telfair Museum encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines to apply.

Museum requirements in addition to the written application, include a brief essay describing career goals, interest in museum work, and reasons for applying. A brief summary at the end of an internship stating accomplishments and projects is required.

Internship Evaluations by the Internship Coordinator may be obtained if required by student’s professors or employers.

How to apply for The Internship Program

An Internship Application must be completed and returned, to be followed by an interview with the Internship Coordinator and department head.
