Position: Senior Accounting Associate—Accounts Receivables

The Senior Accounting Associate-Account Receivable is responsible for all A/R functions, accounting analysis and report preparation, and assisting the CFO with various projects as assigned.  Occasional night and weekend work is required during museum special events to provide accounting/payment support.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Enter tour remittance, memberships, special events and other incoming monies into Peachtree.
  • File all A/R invoices.
  • Assist admissions and store staff to ensure proper accounting methods are followed.
  • Prepare audit spreadsheets as requested by CFO to prepare for annual audit.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Prepare monthly sales tax filings with the Georgia Department of Revenue
  • Prepare monthly endowment portfolio analysis
  • Review restricted funds entries to ensure proper funding by account
  • Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations for CFO review
  • Assist CFO with budget preparation
  • Backup the Human Resources Manager as needed for bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Department liaison for Development, Front Desk, Special Event, and Education Departments to assure revenue entries are recorded correctly in Altru software
  • Responsible for responding to finance report requests from other departments
  • Interface with Development and Grant staff
  • Assist CFO with administrative functions
  • Prepare monthly P&L report for CFO Review
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Two years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, office management, banking or related field preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Sage, (formerly Peachtree) or other accounting software.
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, sense of urgency to complete tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent record keeping, follow-up and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting at a desk for extended periods; standing, bending, lifting (20 lbs.), climbing stairs.
  • Occasionally required to drive to off-site locations to obtain check signatures.
  • Occasionally required to attend after-hours events, sitting, standing and operating credit card machines
